PSD Secretary-General Claudiu Manda is calling on PNL leader Ilie Bolojan to focus on finding solutions to form a fully empowered government and relaunch the economy. Manda argues that Romania needs a program to change the country’s economic direction and reverse measures that, he says, have affected Romanians’ incomes.
In a public message, the Social Democrat leader said that snap elections are not the scenario Romania needs, but that they could become a reality if the formation of the government continues to be blocked. Manda said that the PSD must be prepared for this possibility as well, although he does not consider it the right solution for the country.
The reaction follows messages from Ilie Bolojan and his jabs at the PSD’s proposals, which he compared to a “cornucopia.” Manda told the PNL leader that, before criticizing the Social Democrats’ positions, he should focus on solutions, amid the austerity measures requested of Romanians.
According to Manda, the priorities of the new government should be relaunching the economy, supporting investment and creating jobs. He also said that Romania needs a government with full powers to carry out the budget revision and prepare next year’s budget. The PSD says that the public is waiting for pensions and salaries to be paid on time, as well as for the healthcare system to function properly.
