The First Vice President of PNL, Ciprian Ciucu, stated that there is no real "split" in the pro-European area in Romania, but rather a struggle between a "corrupted system" that defends its privileges and a reformist movement aimed at keeping the country afloat.
"We do not have a 'split'. We have a corrupted system that does everything to maintain its power, privileges, and money at the expense of Romanians, and we have a reformist movement that tries to keep the country afloat. Where is the moral dilemma? Because I do not see it... This is the 'split'. 'Pro-European' refers to the second category, the one with the floating line," Ciucu wrote on his Facebook page.
This statement comes in response to comments made by President Nicușor Dan, who mentioned the existence of a "split" between pro-European political forces.
He also criticized AUR in a previous post, considering it a "system that presents itself as anti-system," but which is composed of former PSD members.
Ciucu warned his liberal colleagues that they will have to make a choice between dignity and the corrupt system, emphasizing the importance of the public agenda for future generations of liberals.
Ciucu's comments come just hours before the motion of censure against the Bolojan Government is to be read in Parliament.
