Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan reacted on Tuesday to the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the amendments made to the ANI Law, warning that "political vendettas" can severely affect Romania's credibility and access to European funds.

Regarding the case of Dominic Fritz, Ilie Bolojan emphasized that, although the CCR's decision is mandatory, its effects can be discussed, mentioning that legal principles must be applied uniformly to everyone, regardless of position.

Criticizing the use of the law to eliminate political opponents, he highlighted the risk of a new condemnation of Romania at the ECHR.

The Prime Minister stated that he is waiting for the CCR's reasoning and a solution for the publication of the asset declarations of officials, emphasizing that Parliament must align the law with the CCR's decision by August 31 to meet the commitments in the PNRR.

The Constitutional Court decided on Monday that the amendment concerning the mayor of Timișoara, USR leader Dominic Fritz, which stipulates the automatic cessation of public office 30 days after the entry into force of the incompatibility law, is constitutional.
