PNL President Ilie Bolojan welcomed the nomination of liberal MEP Siegfried Mureșan as prime minister, announced by President Nicușor Dan, and said it signals a commitment to a reformist, responsible and pro-European governing direction.
Bolojan said Romania now has the chance to continue “on the right path” and described Mureșan as a politician with vision, dedicated to the national interest and with solid European experience. The PNL leader said he was confident that the designated prime minister would propose a government team and a program that would meet expectations for the country’s modernization.
According to Bolojan, PNL will immediately begin talks with USR and UDMR to build a parliamentary majority and form the new government. He stressed, however, that the task is difficult given the current political configuration.
Nicușor Dan announced that Mureșan was his choice for prime minister, although he noted that at that time there was neither a parliamentary majority nor official confirmation that the nomination had been accepted. A few minutes later, the PNL MEP announced that he accepted the president’s proposal.
