Dismissed Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan sent a message on Monday on the occasion of the start of the new school year, announcing the completion of one of the most extensive investment programs in education. According to him, more than 2.5 billion euros were allocated through the NRRP, local budgets, and the state budget.
The money was used to modernize more than 90,000 classrooms and school offices in over 4,000 educational institutions. In addition, more than 1,000 high schools received smart laboratories, while over 100 nurseries were built across the country, providing more than 6,600 places for children.
The program also included the construction and outfitting of seven campuses for dual education. More than 1,500 schools received funding to reduce school dropout, while over 95,000 teachers were trained in digital pedagogy.
Bolojan argued that the effects of these investments would be seen “generation after generation.” In his message to students, parents, and teachers, the dismissed prime minister conveyed wishes for “patience and strength” for the new school year.
