Former president Traian Băsescu launched severe criticisms against the PNL leader, Ilie Bolojan, during a show on Romania TV. Băsescu used a strong metaphor, stating that, although Bolojan has "turned on the light" regarding the problems in state companies, he and his colleagues are "just as much rats."

This statement comes as a reaction to Bolojan's comments, who compared the situation in state companies to a pantry infested with rats. Băsescu emphasized that the problems do not stem from the parties, but from the individuals making decisions. In the current political context, the motion of censure against Bolojan's Government passed with 281 votes, leaving the Executive in an interim position. Băsescu continued to criticize PNL, comparing Bolojan to Călin Georgescu and mentioning the divergences among members, including Cătălin Predoiu and Dan Motreanu.
