Although he was criticized by PNL leaders for lacking an official mandate, Veștea emphasized that he does not consider himself a traitor or a "Trojan horse". He mentioned that he received assurances that he has enough votes in Parliament, without detailing the source of this information. A former Minister of Development in the Ciolacu government, Veștea added that he was invited to contribute his expertise to bring peace to the country.
