The contract was terminated in July 2022, and work is now underway to carry out surveys and update the technical design for the remaining works. The procedures are needed to appoint a new contractor to complete the restoration and modernization of the Citadel, with work due to start in February 2020. The City took over the Citadel in 2010 after a lawsuit with the former Italian administrator.
