YouTube announced on Wednesday that it will implement an automatic system for detecting and labeling content generated by artificial intelligence (AI). Until now, the platform relied on creators' declarations to identify these videos. According to the new rules, if a creator does not mention the use of AI, but YouTube's systems detect significant use of AI, the platform will automatically add a label. This measure comes in the context of the rapid growth of generative artificial intelligence tools. Creators will be able to contest the labeling in case of errors, and YouTube emphasized that this labeling will not affect the recommendation algorithm. Other platforms, such as Spotify, have also begun to label AI-generated content to distinguish between human artists and AI avatars.
