On Friday, TikTok announced that it will strengthen its mechanisms for detecting artificial intelligence (AI) to combat accounts that exclusively publish videos generated by this technology. In the coming weeks, the platform will test improvements to the detection systems, targeting accounts that publish spam on sensitive topics such as politics, health, and financial advice.

TikTok emphasizes that these accounts affect the visibility of original creators, generating low-quality and standardized content. This phenomenon, referred to as 'AI slop', pertains to the proliferation of AI-generated content, often used to attract large audiences at low costs.

TikTok is collaborating with fact-checking organizations to combat misinformation and improve user experience. The platform has also announced an automatic reporting feature for AI-generated content, while other social networks, such as Pinterest, are implementing similar measures to filter AI-generated content.
