A group of 70 students from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca is working on two vehicles powered exclusively by solar energy, preparing to participate in an international endurance competition. One of the vehicles is a racing model, capable of reaching 120 km/h, with a surface area of solar panels of 6 m² and a 3-kilowatt battery. Last year, the competition car traveled 3,000 km in Australia, using only solar energy. The other car, an urban prototype with two seats, can reach 60 km/h and has a range of 250 km, paving the way for sustainable urban mobility. The team will compete this summer in Belgium, alongside 30 other teams from around the world, thus validating technologies to contribute to the development of eco-friendly transport. The students are not only building vehicles but also developing innovative solutions for the future of mobility in cities.
