The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has observed asteroid 2024 YR4, known as the "city killer," which has the potential to destroy an entire city. Recently, NASA updated the collision estimates, reducing the impact risks with the Moon and Earth to zero. The asteroid will pass by the Moon in 2032, at a distance of 21,200 kilometers, closer than the orbit of some artificial satellites. 2024 YR4, discovered by the ATLAS network, has a diameter of 53-67 meters and, if it were to hit Earth, would produce an explosion equivalent to 500 Hiroshima bombs. Recent observations were made possible due to the sensitivity of the JWST, but the asteroid could not be observed in the spring of 2025. The probability of collision has been revised from 3.1% to zero, and the impact risks with the Moon have also been eliminated.
