Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is developing new mixed reality glasses under the codename Phoenix, with a launch postponed from the second half of 2026 to the first half of 2027, according to Business Insider. These glasses will have a similar format to Apple Vision Pro and will include a disc-shaped power source, being different from existing products such as VR headsets and Ray-Ban smart glasses. CEO Mark Zuckerberg requested more time to ensure a superior quality experience, and metaverse leaders Gabriel Aul and Ryan Cairns explained that the delay will provide more room for details. Additionally, Meta intends to reduce the metaverse budget by up to 30%.
