Meta launches Muse, an AI agent that can shop and send emails on behalf of users

Meta is launching Muse, an artificial intelligence agent capable of independently performing a wide range of digital tasks, although the product is not currently available in Europe. The agent can be used for online shopping, travel planning, drafting and sending emails, as well as other productivity activities.

According to the company, Muse can analyze a video recipe, create a shopping list, compare prices across multiple websites and place online orders, with the user’s consent. Mark Zuckerberg says the agent is more capable than Meta AI and can perform these tasks with a greater degree of autonomy.

However, Muse’s performance depends on the access users choose to give it to their personal information. Meta, a company previously criticized for how it handles private data, also provides an option that prevents users’ information from being used to train the artificial intelligence system.

Muse can connect both to Meta’s applications and to services such as Google Workspace, Ticketmaster, OpenTable, Spotify and Apple Health. The agent is based on the Muse Spark 3.1 model, and its launch is, for now, limited to locations outside Europe.ُ
