The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that his country will not make territorial concessions in any potential peace negotiations with Russia, emphasizing that Ukraine is open to discussions but will not accept being excluded from the negotiating table. Zelensky expressed reluctance regarding a summit in Budapest due to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who blocks initiatives related to Ukraine. He mentioned the importance of respecting the 1994 memorandum, which provided security guarantees to Ukraine in exchange for giving up its nuclear arsenal.
The President emphasized that if the war ends quickly, Russia's frozen funds will be used for reconstruction, and otherwise, for purchasing weapons. Zelensky stated that pressure on Russia must continue through sanctions and the use of frozen assets. He also mentioned that Putin is not interested in an agreement, but only in underestimating Ukraine. Zelensky reiterated that Ukraine is ready to participate in negotiations, regardless of the format, but not without being included.
