Tesla has confirmed that it will unveil the new Roadster on October 1, after the company’s official account on the X platform posted the message “Go for launch” alongside the event date. Elon Musk repeated the announcement, stating: “New Tesla Roadster Unveil 10.01”. The event is expected to provide details about the electric sports car, which has been delayed by several years.
According to information published by The Information and reported by News.ro, Tesla initially intended to unveil the redesigned version as early as August. The presentation could also include a demonstration of a special variant equipped with cold-gas thrusters developed in collaboration with SpaceX. The test is expected to take place at SpaceX’s facility in McGregor, Texas.
Tesla presented the next generation of the Roadster in 2017 and announced deliveries would begin in 2020. The project was repeatedly delayed and evolved from a high-performance electric car into a carbon-fiber-built hypercar. The company has since abandoned the version based on Model S Plaid components.
The announcement comes as Tesla seeks to make up for delays to several projects. The company recently began limited rides with the autonomous Cybercab in Austin and is preparing to expand the electric Semi truck in Europe.
