The World Health Organization has identified the cough syrups Coldrif, Respifresh TR, and ReLife, produced in India, as contaminated and dangerous to health. They can cause serious illnesses, including deaths, especially among children under five years old. Indian authorities have revoked the production license of Sresan Pharmaceutical, responsible for Coldrif, after discovering a high level of diethylene glycol, a toxic solvent. 24 deaths have been confirmed in Madhya Pradesh, and WHO is calling for the reporting of any adverse effects associated with these medications.
