The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban made a visit to Moscow to discuss with Vladimir Putin about oil and gas supplies, as well as the situation in Ukraine. Orban stated that Hungary is willing to provide a platform for Russian-American negotiations, emphasizing the importance of ensuring his country's energy supply. Despite the war in Ukraine, Hungary has maintained close relations with Russia, continuing to depend on Russian energy.
Orban called on the European Union to support a peace plan favorable to Moscow, which would involve territorial concessions from Ukraine. Additionally, Hungary obtained a waiver from American sanctions to use Russian energy resources and signed a cooperation pact in the field of nuclear energy with the United States. Orban insisted on the need to avoid any additional financial aid for Ukraine from the EU.
