The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, made an official visit to Serbia, where he discussed with his counterpart, Aleksandar Vucic, issues of energy and security, in the context of the intensification of Russian attacks on Ukraine.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is facing a severe energy crisis, with almost all power plants destroyed, and expressed gratitude for the humanitarian aid provided by Serbia. The visit took place after a Russian bombing of Kyiv, which resulted in casualties. Vucic stated that the meeting will contribute to the development of bilateral relations, despite Serbia's dependence on Russia for energy. A Ukrainian official mentioned that the purpose of the visit is to distance Serbia from Russian influence, while discussions also included security-related aspects, a sensitive topic given previous accusations regarding arms sales to Ukraine.
