Viktor Orbán, the Prime Minister of Hungary, has launched the pre-campaign for the parliamentary elections in 2026 with an anti-war rally organized by the civic network Digitális Polgári Körök (DPK), close to the ruling party Fidesz. The event took place in Miskolc and was presented as a gathering dedicated to peace, with Orbán emphasizing that the main stakes are the choice between war and peace. He criticized the financial support given to Ukraine, stating that it exceeds the funds Hungary has received since joining the European Union. Máté Kocsis, the leader of the Fidesz parliamentary group, attacked the opposition, associating it with pro-war positions. The DPK organization, with over 164,000 members, will continue the series of rallies, with the next one scheduled in Kaposvár. The elections in Hungary are planned for April 12, 2026.
