According to a report by the Quincy Institute and Brown University, the US military budget will exceed $1 trillion annually, generating significant windfalls for weapons firms like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon. Between 2020-2024, the Pentagon's top five contractors received $771 billion, accounting for 54% of the department's discretionary spending. This rapid growth in spending, fueled by rivalry with China and arms transfers to Israel and Ukraine, has led to a doubling of the military budget since 2000.
