UNCTAD Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan emphasized that President Trump's increased global tariffs will have a severe impact on the most vulnerable economies. Although the majority of the US trade deficit comes from a few partners, poor countries, which contribute minimally to the deficit, will be disproportionately affected. Grynspan warned that these measures could erode confidence in global economies, slowing investment and threatening growth. In addition, China responded with additional tariffs and financial markets continued to fall, reflecting global concerns.
