Ukraine launched a massive drone attack on the Russian city of Voronezh overnight from Sunday to Monday. According to the region’s governor, Alexander Gusev, two people were killed and another 17 were injured, including a child.
Russian authorities claim they detected 113 drones over the Voronezh region, more than 70 of them in the city area. According to the Ukrainian monitoring channel Supernova+, one of the targets was the Voronezh Aircraft Company, a branch of the Ilyushin Complex and an important facility for Russia’s aviation industry.
The attack reportedly affected several industrial enterprises, an office building, an apartment block, and a school stadium. Images published by Astra and Exilenova+ allegedly show explosions at the Chizhov Gallery business center, a 25-story building in the city center. Fires and explosions were reported in several areas, including near residential neighborhoods.
The drone alert was issued at around 03:00 local time, and approximately two hours later a missile threat was also announced. Voronezh is located about 200 kilometers from the Ukrainian territory controlled by Kyiv and has previously been targeted in attacks on Russian military and industrial infrastructure.
