Ukraine has deployed military units in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan to protect critical and civilian infrastructure against drone attacks, announced Rustem Umerov, the Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine. These measures come in response to requests for help from nearly a dozen countries facing threats from Iranian kamikaze drones.
Although Gulf states have advanced air defense systems, they prove insufficient against the cheap drones used by Iran. Ukraine, which has developed advanced drone interception capabilities, has sent military specialists to the Middle East, where over 200 experts are located.
President Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is seeking financial and technological support in exchange for the assistance provided. He also called for an assessment of the readiness of countries in the region to join international security initiatives in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global energy supply.
