Donald Trump declared on Tuesday on his Truth Social network that he will discuss with Cuba, which he characterized as 'a failed state', after he intensified sanctions against the island. The American president stated that Havana 'is going in one direction: down!' and threatened that he would 'take control' of Cuba through military means, even suggesting the escalation of an American aircraft carrier in the area. These statements come in the context of tightening sanctions imposed on Cuba, including an oil blockade that allows only the arrival of a single Russian tanker. The Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, responded that his country is 'prepared' to face any aggression from the United States. At the same time, Trump is preparing for a two-day visit to China, where he will discuss contentious issues, including trade and Taiwan. China has urged Washington to lift the embargo and sanctions imposed on Cuba.
