The United States announced on Thursday a new round of sanctions against Cuba, targeting new entities, including the Ministry of Construction, in the context of a Cuban economy on the brink of collapse.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that these entities, active in the mining and metallurgical sectors, support the repressive apparatus of the Cuban regime. Sanctions have also been imposed on the leaders of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), accused by Washington of financing a subversive network in the United States. Rubio emphasized that the Cuban regime has recently tried to take advantage of the centenary of Fidel Castro's birth to revitalize this network.
