Donald Trump has enacted a law that requires the Department of Justice to publish all unclassified documents related to the Epstein case, including information about Ghislaine Maxwell and other involved individuals. Although Trump initially opposed this law, he changed his position after it became clear that it would be adopted without issues in Congress. The law was passed with 427 votes "for" and 1 "against" in the House of Representatives. Trump accused the Democratic opposition of hiding the truth and promised sensational revelations during his 2024 election campaign. Although the Department of Justice can withhold documents to protect the privacy of victims or in the case of ongoing investigations, there are concerns that these measures could hinder the desired transparency. Representative Thomas Massie emphasized that authorities cannot use the excuse of an investigation except temporarily.
