Ghislaine Maxwell attempted to overturn her 20-year sentence for aiding Jeffrey Epstein in the sexual abuse of minors, but Judge Paul Engelmayer denied her request, deeming it unfounded.
Maxwell, 64 years old, who represented herself, challenged the December 2021 sentence in federal court in Manhattan, seeking a writ of habeas corpus. Although Maxwell argued that recent documents show her procedural rights were violated, the judge stated that this evidence is irrelevant to her case.
Engelmayer emphasized that Maxwell created a culture of silence among Epstein's staff and used methods specific to child predators, actively participating in acts of abuse. The judge concluded that Maxwell did not demonstrate a substantial violation of constitutional rights, and an appellate review is not warranted.
