US President Donald Trump held a 30-minute meeting with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa in Riyadh, where he announced the lifting of sanctions on Syria, a decision demanded by Saudi Arabia and Turkey. It is seen as a "decisive turning point" for the Syrian economy, battered by years of civil war. Trump emphasized that the move gives Syria a "chance for greatness", while the meeting was marked by the participation of Turkish President Erdogan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
