TikTok has banned the hashtag #skinnytok, linked to unhealthy content about weight loss, after pressure from European authorities

The TikTok platform has blocked the hashtag 'SkinnyTok', which promoted extreme diets and unhealthy weight-loss content, in response to concerns from authorities in Brussels and Paris. The move is part of a review of TikTok's safety policies aimed at protecting users, especially children. France's digital minister welcomed the decision as a victory in the fight to keep young people safe online. TikTok will redirect searches to mental health support resources.
