The San Fermin festival, famous in Spain, ended on Tuesday, recording two serious incidents during the last bull run. An 18-year-old from Pamplona was gored in the thigh in the first part of the route after a bull hit a small group of runners, causing them to fall.

A 46-year-old man from central Spain was also gored in the chest in the final stretch, the area where the run narrows before entering the arena. Both victims were taken to the hospital for medical care.

Another eight people, including an 86-year-old British man, received treatment for minor injuries. Bull runs last only two and a half minutes on a 875-meter course, and the speed of the animals often surprises the runners. Although the last tragedy resulting in death during these runs occurred in 2009, injuries caused by goring and fractures are common, especially due to the high number of inexperienced participants and tourists.

This year's edition of the festival marks the centenary of the publication of Ernest Hemingway's novel, "The Sun Also Rises," a work that gave the festival international recognition.
