The Pentagon spokesperson, Sean Parnell, stated that the Department of Defense is prepared to carry out President Trump's orders, while approximately 1,500 soldiers from Alaska are preparing for a possible deployment in Minnesota. They are part of the 11th Airborne Division and are trained for operations in the Arctic and Indo-Pacific, not for crowd control. This move comes in the wake of protests in Minneapolis, triggered by the shooting of two civilians by ICE officers. Mayor Jacob Frey criticized the deployment of active troops, emphasizing that the city does not need more federal agents. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has mobilized the National Guard but has not deployed active troops.

Tensions have risen between federal and state officials, and the Department of Homeland Security has defended the actions of ICE agents, which have been contested by local officials. This situation reflects a tougher approach from the Trump administration towards anti-ICE protests.
