This move comes in the wake of protests in Minneapolis, triggered by the shooting of two civilians by ICE officers. Mayor Jacob Frey criticized the deployment of active troops, emphasizing that the city does not need more federal agents. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has mobilized the National Guard but has not deployed active troops.
