According to Eurostat estimates, the average price of agricultural products at the farm gate in the European Union increased by approximately 3% in 2025, after a decline in 2024. This increase marks the resumption of the upward trend in prices, following the advances from 2021-2023. The evolution of prices varied significantly between categories, with the largest increases for cattle (26%) and eggs (23%). Fruits and milk saw a moderate increase of about 10%, while poultry increased by 9%.
In contrast, the price of olive oil decreased by 37%, and potatoes by 22%. The price of milk increased in almost all member states, with the exception of Greece. The largest increases were recorded in Denmark (21%) and Estonia (20%). The costs of agricultural goods and services have risen slowly, with a 5% increase in fertilizers, but farmers benefited from a 2% reduction in energy and lubricants costs.
