The Royal House of Norway has announced that Crown Princess Mette-Marit, at the age of 52, will require a lung transplant due to the deterioration of her health condition. Diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2018, a chronic condition that causes scarring in the lungs, her condition has worsened in recent months, according to tests conducted in the fall. Although a date for her placement on the transplant waiting list has not yet been established, Professor Are Martin Holm from the University Hospital in Oslo mentioned that preparations for the procedure are underway. In 2024, the princess resumed treatment for pulmonary fibrosis after a relapse of the disease.
