The heir princess of Norway, Mette-Marit, underwent a lung transplant, a procedure that took place 13 days after she was placed on the waiting list, according to a statement from the royal house.

The Royal Palace announced on June 5 that the princess had been registered on the waiting list, and doctors estimated that without the transplant, she would have had one more year to live. Since the announcement, the number of organ donors in Norway has significantly increased. Mette-Marit, at the age of 52, was diagnosed in 2018 with pulmonary fibrosis.

The Oslo University Hospital confirmed that the princess had the same chances for a transplant as any other Norwegian citizen. In Norway, the survival rate after a lung transplant is 90% in the first year.

The princess's health has recently been affected by a scandal related to her relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, but she has asked for forgiveness, stating that she was manipulated. Additionally, her son was recently sentenced for serious crimes.
