Norwegian Princess Märtha Louise and her husband, Durek Verrett, filed a defamation lawsuit in Los Angeles on September 14 against several former associates. The couple is seeking total damages of more than $80 million, arguing that the plaintiffs maliciously exploited the access they had to their private lives and professional activities.
The individuals targeted reportedly include former intimate partners, business associates and a family member. The documents allege a “calculated betrayal of trust” and a coordinated series of public attacks based on confidential communications, disputed allegations and purported privileged information about the couple and Verrett’s company, Ohana.
According to the court filings, the attacks allegedly began several years ago and intensified in 2025 and 2026. The plaintiffs also cite the difficult period they went through, marked by Verrett’s serious medical problems, dialysis, a kidney transplant and the death of the princess’s father.
The couple’s American attorney, Richard Roth, said that their reputations would be tested in court. The first hearings are scheduled for December.
