Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated that the G20 summit, scheduled for the end of November in Johannesburg, could represent an opportunity for discussions between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Although there are no signs of a ceasefire, Stubb emphasized that "behind-the-scenes work" will continue. He recently discussed the situation in Ukraine with leaders from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, who will meet with American President Donald Trump and later with Putin. Stubb reiterated that Finland supports increasing pressure on Russia to compel Putin to negotiate. Zelensky expressed willingness for a trilateral meeting but rejected the Kremlin's conditions, insisting that discussions will not take place in Russia or Belarus. Russia, through Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, stated that it is ready for negotiations, but only in the Istanbul format, accusing Ukraine of a lack of political will.
