The French presidency has refused investigators access to the Élysée Palace, citing the immunity enjoyed by President Emmanuel Macron. The investigators were trying to investigate contracts related to the organization of commemorative ceremonies, which have been managed by the same event company for 20 years. According to a presidential official, documents related to the staff of the Élysée Palace will be provided upon request, but the search was not permitted. The investigation targets allegations of favoritism, corruption, influence peddling, and conflict of interest, particularly concerning the company Shortcut Events, which has repeatedly obtained contracts for ceremonies at the Panthéon in Paris. Each ceremony cost approximately 2 million euros. The investigation also examines the links between Shortcut Events and the National Monuments Center, which manages France's historical heritage.
