The first discussions between the United States and Iran are scheduled for Friday in the mountain resort of Bürgenstock in Switzerland, following the signing of a protocol of understanding that establishes a 60-day ceasefire.
The Swiss Foreign Ministry announced that the negotiations will also include mediators from Pakistan and Qatar. Although an official signing of the agreement was initially anticipated on Friday in Geneva, the protocol has already been signed remotely, generating confusion regarding the conduct of the meeting.
The discussions will take place in a luxury hotel, and security will be provided by approximately 2,000 soldiers, with a no-fly zone established above the mountain to ensure the safety of the participants. The Swiss government has emphasized that no additional information is available about the details of the meeting.
