The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is under attack from the political extremes, with two motions of censure being discussed in the European Parliament. Although these motions have little chance of success, they reflect the instability of the centrist coalition. Criticism of von der Leyen is growing, especially due to ambiguous relations with the far right and dissatisfaction related to trade agreements. Internal tensions within the coalition could affect future important laws, including those related to the environment.
