The Swedish Transport Agency has reported an alarming increase in GPS jamming in the Baltic Sea, with 733 incidents in 2025, compared to 55 in 2023. These interferences, located on Russian territory, affect civil aviation and maritime navigation. Sweden, along with other European states, has raised the issue with the International Civil Aviation Organization, requesting Russia to stop these activities. Moscow denies the allegations, but the recent incident involving Ursula von der Leyen's plane highlights the increased risks. Authorities warn that jamming can lead to collisions and accidents in flight.
