The defense budget growth plan, approved by the Slovenian government, foresees reaching the target of 2% of GDP this year and an annual increase of 0.2% to 3% in 2030. The decision comes ahead of the NATO summit in June, where member states' defense commitments are being discussed. Although the plan has been adopted, it also needs the approval of the Slovenian parliament.
