The defense budget of Romania for 2025 is 8.7 billion euros, representing 2.3% of GDP, of which 2.5 billion euros will be allocated for major equipment acquisitions and research activities, stated Sorin-Dan Moldovan, Secretary of State in the Ministry of National Defense.

The official emphasized that the funds will be used for the modernization and strengthening of the country's defense, in the context of Romania's commitments to NATO and the EU's SAFE instrument, which will bring about 16.7 billion euros for the country. The priority for the national defense industry is established as a strategic objective, and the gradual increase of allocations will continue until 5% of GDP by 2035.
