After Vladimir Putin declared that Russia is "ready" for a conflict with Europe, NATO chief Mark Rutte reacted by mocking the Russian leader for his appearances in military uniform, mentioning that he is "far from the front." Putin stated that he does not intend to wage a war with Europe, but that Russia is prepared in case Europe decides to start a conflict.

Rutte emphasized the importance of an effective peace process and highlighted the need to continue aid for Ukraine and to maintain economic sanctions against Russia. Recent negotiations between Washington and Moscow have not led to concrete results, and Putin's advisor, Yuri Ushakov, mentioned that there were criticisms regarding some American proposals.
