Typhoon Co-May hit Shanghai, prompting the evacuation of 283,000 people from vulnerable areas to more than 1,900 temporary shelters. Meteorologists have issued an orange alert for thunderstorms and nearly a third of flights at local airports have been canceled. The typhoon made landfall in Zhejiang province, bringing winds of up to 83 km/h and causing flooding in cities such as Ningbo. Residents are facing extreme conditions, seeking shelter and safety.
