The Russian army declared on Saturday that it will respond to Ukrainian attacks that targeted Russia, especially the Saint Petersburg region.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that it shot down 494 Ukrainian drones and missiles during the attack, without recording casualties or significant damage. These attacks occurred after a bloody Russian attack on Kyiv, which caused 30 deaths. The governor of Saint Petersburg, Aleksandr Beglov, reported the neutralization of approximately 70 drones, mentioning that one drone caused technical issues at an oil terminal, but without casualties. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukrainian forces targeted oil infrastructure and the Kronstadt naval base. These attacks led to the temporary closure of airports in northwestern Russia. Saint Petersburg, Putin's hometown, has rarely been targeted during the invasion due to enhanced air defense.
