Russian authorities announced on Tuesday that they are preparing to redirect grain shipments from the Sea of Azov, following Ukrainian attacks on several vessels, raising concerns for a crucial route for Russia's grain exports.

The Russian Ministry of Agriculture stated that the situation will not affect export volumes or domestic supply, as grains can be redirected to alternative ports. Although maritime transport in the Sea of Azov has been restricted, the Ministry has not officially confirmed these restrictions. Grain exporters suggest that goods could be directed to terminals at the Black Sea or the Baltic Sea, although some of these have been attacked. This disruption comes in the context of intensified Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, causing fuel shortages.

Despite logistical difficulties, Russia will fulfill its export commitments, and the grain harvest in the southern regions is underway. Local authorities in Rostov emphasize that the main goal is to minimize the impact on sales of the new harvest.
