Ukraine is considering a railway route through Moldova to Romania for the export of cereals.

Ukraine is analyzing a railway route through Moldova to the port of Constanța, Romania, as an alternative for grain exports, in the context of the intensification of Russian attacks on its ports. Kiev has requested Moldova to reduce railway transport tariffs by 50%, and Moldova has proposed that Ukraine guarantees a certain volume of cargo. This route could transport approximately 4.5 million tons of grain annually, representing up to 10% of Ukrainian exports.

In this context, the Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture has revised down the forecast for grain exports, and the Moldovan Prime Minister has emphasized the financial opportunities for Moldova, dismissing the concerns of local farmers regarding the impact of Ukrainian grain on the market.
