Ringier, the Swiss media group, has announced the sale of its Hungarian division, which includes the tabloid Blikk, the most read in Hungary, to the Indamedia group, considered close to the ruling party, Fidesz. This transaction takes place less than six months before the legislative elections, in a context where the opposition leads in polls. Blikk, with approximately 3 million readers monthly, is one of the most influential publications in Hungary.

The opposition leader, Peter Magyar, criticized the sale, stating that Orban and his allies fear losing the elections and are destroying independent press. Although Indamedia is not part of the pro-Fidesz media group KESMA, it is considered close to the governing party. Index, the main publication of Indamedia, has been involved in controversies related to pressure on journalists and critical articles about the opposition.
