Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, emphasized in an interview with Al Jazeera that Iran's attacks on its neighbors are not beneficial and expressed Qatar's concern regarding the scale of these attacks, which affect the civilian infrastructure and economy of the region.
Al-Khulaifi condemned the attacks on Qatar and stated that Doha will take legal measures to defend its sovereignty. He highlighted the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, crucial for energy supplies. He also mentioned that Iran has targeted countries that have tried to mediate between it and the West, which hinders any role as a mediator.
The Qatari Prime Minister has tried to convey these messages to Tehran, emphasizing that the countries in the region are not enemies of Iran. Qatar remains in contact with U.S. officials and encourages a peaceful solution to the conflict, urging Iran and the United States to return to the negotiating table to find a mediated solution.
